First I laid down a trumpet track, facing away so that the trumpet sound wouldn&#8217;t overwhelm things, and then together we recorded the vocal track. \u2014Erin<\/p>\n<p>A real kaddish in two-part harmony, at last. \u00a0With Kjersti scratching the Afghani kelim underfoot.<\/p>\n<p>The shocker, I suppose, is that he never ever wanted a kaddish for himself\u2014or anyone else. \u00a0And I never ever thought to recite one. \u00a0But there it is. A kaddish for Milton G. Nobler\u2014painter, chemist, Renaissance man, and very flawed human being \u2014 just like the rest of us. It says on your plaque &#8220;Husband, Father, Grandfather.&#8221; \u00a0I&#8217;m only now beginning to discover that you did care about all three of those.
